Red Sea monasteries from Hurghada

The Monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul are the oldest in Christianity, originating in the 4th century AD when monks began settling in secluded caves and cliffs at the base of the Galala Al-Qibliya mountain near the Red Sea. These monasteries hold great significance as the holiest sites in the Coptic Church. The Monastery of St. Anthony, located about 70 km south of Ain Sukhna and 245 km from Hurghada, is a vast complex surrounded by towering walls and can be accessed via the Zafarana Road leading to Beni Suef.

  • Highlight: Church of St. Anthony

  • Panoramic View
    • Enjoy a stunning panorama over the monks’ cultivated gardens from the walls.

Visit to the Monastery of St. Paul the Anchorite
